Babylon Bee CEO Seth Dillon spoke to conservative commentator Charlie Kirk Monday regarding their ongoing suspensions from Twitter, with both still refusing to “bend the knee” and engage in “reality denial” by deleting the tweets that landed them in ‘Twitter jail”.
The Babylon Bee was suspended by Twitter for for promoting a parody article about transgender Biden Assistant Secretary for Health Rachel Levine being the “man of the year.”
Kirk was then suspended hours later for tweeting a post stating “Richard Levine spent 54 years of his life as a man. He had a wife and family. He ‘transitioned’ to being a woman in 2011, Joe Biden appointed Levine to be a 4-Star Admiral, and now USA Today has named ‘Rachel’ Levine as a ‘Woman of the Year'[.] Where are the feminists??”
During their exchange Dillon told Kirk that “If everybody just simply rolls over, does whatever Twitter wants, and engages in this kind of like reality denial, where we all have to use the language they want us to use, affirm the things they want us to affirm, refuse to deny things that we wish to deny, then we’re giving them more power than they should have over us.”
Also noting that Tucker Carlson is locked out of Twitter over the incident, he continued, “Twitter’s going to ban themselves into irrelevance at some point,” further urging that “until somebody takes a stand, a bold stand, somebody with a following that’s got some influence, people aren’t going to be emboldened to follow suit.”
“I think that once you get one person that stands up another might feel a little emboldened to do it, and then another and then another, and the next thing you know, you’ve got a mass of people who are standing in defense of truth and reason and goodness, and freedom,” Dillon further asserted.
“We were just simply standing on principle and saying the right thing to do is not delete this tweet,” he added.
